Normally, the beginning of a new fiscal year is of interest to few people beyond the accounting staff. But this year is different. September 1, 2007 marks the beginning of our 2008 fiscal year, which carries special significance for us, since it will be our 100th year in business.
We're proud of our rich heritage as a company and of our role in helping to build and maintain the electrical infrastructure of Louisville and the surrounding area. We're grateful for the opportunities we've had to work with many great people and companies over the years -- employees, suppliers, and customers alike.
We hope you will join with us in celebrating Marine Electric Company's 100 years of service. We're looking forward to the next 100 years.
Safety is a critical element to Marine Electric Company. Our aim is zero incidents and that no employee or their family suffers because of an incident incurred during employment with Marine Electric Company. Marine Electric has a comprehensive safety manual with written policies and procedures evaluated by third party safety experts and routinely reviewed for updates. It is our objective to provide our employees with the necessary tools, equipment and training to perform work on our jobs in a safe and efficient manner.
Because of our dedication to the safety of our workers and to the customers that we serve, we continually strive to improve upon our safety procedures. Our latest safety rollout has been an upgrade from standard leather gloves to a “fitted glove” for improved hand safety. It is our experience that most hand injuries were occurring because a worker chose not to wear a protective glove; not because they did not have gloves. The reason being that the old gloves were too bulky to perform the task. The new gloves are form fitting, with improved comfort and dexterity, which has led to increased use of gloves on jobsites.
