1908, Louisville, Kentucky, Ed Thirwell, created Marine Electric Company.

The company passed hands to such innovative leaders as G.T. Thirlwell, S. W. Storm, S.B. Storm, the current CEO, Charles Wirth, and today’s president, Daniel Swintosky. The consistent philosophy of customer service and quality has generated the power behind Marine Electric.

From the installation of the original electric lamp posts on the river’s wharf, to powering-up such regional icons as GE, UPS, UofL, UofK, and Dow Corning, Marine Electric has helped set the area’s infrastructure of commerce.

2008, Louisville, Kentucky, a celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Marine Electric took place on September 18.  Customers, employees, families and friends gathered at the Louisville Palace to commemorate the company’s past, present and future. A 32’ historical wall display depicted the story of the company. Guests received booklets with this story as they entered the theater for the premiere viewing of “Kilowatts, Currents and Connections,” a documentary of the company in brilliant color, animation, authentic photos and engaging narration.  The film was introduced by Dr. Tom Owens, Louisville’s appointed historian.

Mr. Wirth and Mr. Swintosky gave representatives from The Healing Place a check for $100,000.00 for their new facility.

Great food, live music, commemorative gifts, and an enthusiastic atmosphere, produced an electric evening for all, as Marine Electric began the next century of “Service & Quality ~ Quickly & Safely!”
