“Safety is Paramount” at Marine Electric, says Dennis Fowler, a project manager that has high-voltage energy when speaking about safety! “All of our project managers and field foreman are required to take the OSHA 30 Class. This is 30 hours of the highest level safety training. It includes the safe handling of welding, ladders, fumes, materials, and more. It is the highest designation to attain on construction safety to date.”
Clients even have greater specification requirements today. For example, the state of Kentucky requires special training for working with MSD. Also, Marine Electric submits safety records with all proposals.
“Alonzo Shepherd is our full time safety director. We have a safety committee that meets monthly to discuss safety procedures that keep Marine Electric at the forefront of the ever changing safety environment. We also hold a Foreman’s Safety Call-In meeting monthly to discuss safety issues and review changes in safety policies, plus generate feedback from the field. I don’t know of any other electrical contractor that has such extensive training. We are committed to being sure our people are safe, our jobs are safe, and our customers have a safe environment,” states Fowler.
